I'm Sylvie (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor in Philadelphia. I received my M.S. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. In addition to my private practice, I work at a community mental health center in Philadelphia. When I'm not in the therapist's chair, you can find me out with my husband and our two dogs, trying a new creative hobby like pottery-making or embroidery, or checking out my next book from the library!
I believe in therapy as an incredibly unique and special relationship that can transform us in the smallest or hugest ways.
Each day when we go out into the world, our past is traveling right alongside us. In therapy, we take the time to pause and reflect on how that past may be showing up today. Do we avoid conflict with others at the expense of our own needs? Have we become perfectionists, fearing failure above all else? Are we hiding parts of who we are because of fear of shame, hurt, or rejection? Together, we explore the deep roots of these emotions or behaviors. We invite healing and compassion to these wounds and find stronger, healthier ways of being. Doing this work with my clients has been a great honor.
As a white, able-bodied, heterosexual and cisgender 33-year old woman, I have just one narrow lens of lived experience– my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable and confident to let me into your reality in the places where we differ. I truly enjoy working with those who have a different background from me and have had so many wonderful therapeutic relationships with a wide variety of clients. However, I understand the value of working with a therapist who you feel like might "get" you a little better with a similar background or life experience– I invite you to ask yourself if that is something you need and to find that person! You can also e-mail me asking for a referral if I know another therapist who fits your needs.
